- It is part of the responsibility of the administration and also the educational institutions to see that their schools maintain basic minimum norms both in the academic field as well as in the physical facilities which they provide on their campuses. Already several measures have been initiated by both the Central and State Govts for safety in school buildings. I would suggest that we draw lessons from this unfortunate incident of Kumbakonam and try to build in certain safety features in our school buildings without which it should not be possible to accord affiliation to these schools. And there should not be any discretion available with anyone, including the President of India, to waive off these conditions.
